Early Intervention

Early Intervention is the key to “optimal outcomes” for children with autism. A child’s development, specifically their brain, matures rapidly between the ages of 0-3, suggesting that early intervention is an ideal way to treat developmental delays. Children with autism who are engaged in early intervention ABA therapy have a greater chance of building pivotal developmental skills, such as communication, language, and social skills.

Is your child graduating from the EI program?

Don’t panic, you can continue therapy services with us. Our BCBA’s are credentialed with the Illinois EI Program to help with evaluations and treatments for children with developmental delays. We can also assist with transitioning from an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) to an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

In-Home Therapy

Providing therapy in an in-home setting allows us to observe client behaviors in the family environment and design programs to address those behaviors. It also provides opportunities for additional parent and family involvement and training, as well as community outings. The long-term goal for each client is to enable them to generalize their skills to the home, school, and community and be able to fully participate in family, school, and community activities.

Advantages of In-Home ABA Therapy:

*We come to you! No need to worry about traveling to another appointment.

*Your child’s daily routine can be easily incorporated to teach new skills.

*Positive behavior change occurs more easily in your home, where it is a safe and familiar environment for your child and we work on skills that matter most to you!

Adaptive and Functional Living Skills

Adaptive skills include but are not limited to:

  • Personal Care & Self Help – hygiene, toileting, meals, chores and other home tasks.
  • Socialization – leisure or play skills, interpersonal relationships, conversation, non-verbal cues.
  • Communication – requesting, commenting, explaining.
  • Community & Safety – crossing the street, appropriate with others, purchasing.
  • Self-Direction – goal setting, self-management, problem-solving, choice making.
  • Behavior Modification – tolerance, rigidity, ritualistic behavior, non-compliance.

Social Skills Group

Social skills deficits are often a concern for parents and professionals alike. We offer a variety of structured social skills groups to target these deficits as well as continues assessments of social performance as compared to their same aged peers. Groups are designed to blend individualized goals with social cognition curriculum. Our social skills programs have a strong emphasis on generalizing and mastering skills in community settings where the skills can be used in a functional way. These skills include observational skills, eye contact, play interactions, social pragmatics, sharing, and building relationships.

Parent Training

Parent participation is an important element in the success of your child. In order for our treatment to achieve optimal clinical outcomes, a partnership with you and your family is crucial. The ultimate goal of our ABA parent training is to empower you with practical techniques that can make a difference in your child’s life and in your family’s overall well-being. We want you to be involved and aware every step of the way.

Behavior Support Planning

Functional Behavior Assessments are conducted and a Behavior Intervention Plan/ Behavior Support Plan is written and individualized to meet your child’s needs. A (BSP) is a plan that assists an individual in building positive behaviors to replace or reduce a challenging behavior. This plan may include prevention strategies, the instruction of replacement skills, finding new ways to respond to problem behavior, and lifestyle outcome goals. The primary focus being to manage inappropriate behaviors in an effort to decrease the likelihood of recurrence in the future. A large focus is placed on antecedent interventions to manipulate the environment and put preventative strategies in place in order to prevent maladaptive behaviors from occurring.

Executive Skills Functioning

Executive function is a set of mental skills that include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. We use these skills every day to learn, work, and manage daily life. Trouble with executive function can make it hard to focus, follow directions, and handle emotions, among other things.

Executive function is responsible for many skills, including:

  • Paying attention.
  • Organizing, planning, and prioritizing.
  • Starting tasks and staying focused on them to completion.
  • Understanding different points of view.
  • Regulating emotions.
  • Self-monitoring (keeping track of what you’re doing).

Professional Development

Teachers who are trained in ABA thinking and methods of teaching can change their classrooms for the better, improve their teaching abilities, and help their students in meaningful ways. Whether they teach special education or mainstream classes. We will train your teachers and paraprofessionals on how to effectively manage your student’s behaviors and implement the developed BIP for these students in any type of classroom. Direct observations and practical recommendations can be made, as well as suggestions for classroom setup.

Consultation

Upon receiving your intake paperwork, one of our BCBAs will contact you to set up an initial consultation. They will come to the meeting prepared to learn more about your family as a whole and ask questions that will help them determine your child’s primary area of needs. This meeting will also help guide the BCBA in determining the assessments that will allow them to develop your child’s treatment plan.

Pre Authorization

Our team will contact your insurance carrier to determine if you have coverage for ABA services. If your insurance benefits include ABA, we will receive authorization for your child’s assessment.

Assessment

A skilled BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) will assess your child’s functioning level in area of communication, social skills, adaptive living, and behavior.

Planning

Once the assessment is completed, the BCBA will create an individualized treatment plan for your child. No two treatment plans are alike. We develop a customized treatment plan that helps your child meet his/her goals and maximize their full potential.

Therapy

Your team will include two types of credentialed professionals, BCBAs and RBT’s. The RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) will come to you and provide direct ABA services. Your child’s Behavior Technician will work 1:1 with them in your home following the treatment plan designed by the BCBA.

Ongoing Monitoring/ Parent Training

Our data-driven review process ensures ongoing progress towards goals, with BCBA supervision. Weekly parent training sessions are held between the parent and the BCBA to discuss goals and progress.
